Masaryk University (MU)
Masaryk University (MU) is the second-largest public university in the Czech Republic and one of its leading higher education institutions. At present, it consists of 9 faculties and over 200 departments, institutes and clinics and is one of the fastest growing higher education institutions in the country. MU is the most selective university in the Czech Republic and in 2019 enrolled over 32 000 students. The University is involved in a wide range of mobility activities and research programs taking place in the EU and other countries.
Masaryk University is rapidly expanding and is one of the leading universities in the field of research in central European area. But it hasn’t been always like this and Masaryk University has had its share of problems in the beginnings. In regard to this experience, MU wants to share its own professional knowledge to help other HEIs around the world. People at MU believe that development of educational system leads to significant changes in social, political and economical areas and therefore benefits wellbeing of whole population of said county and growth of active and educated civil society. All these goals are in line with the Key action 2 of Erasmus+ programme under the subprogram “Capacity building in the field of higher education”.
